We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), which govern how personal information is collected, stored, used, and disclosed. As a registered BAS Agent, we are also bound by the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 and the Tax File Number Guidelines 2011.

We collect this information to deliver professional services relating to your taxation, superannuation, or business accounting needs.
How We Collect It:
Where possible, we collect your information directly. In some cases, we may collect it from third parties with your consent (e.g. your tax agent, ATO, financial institutions).
Disclosure to Third Parties:
We may need to share information with the ATO, financial professionals (e.g. tax agents, brokers, planners), legal advisors, or authorised service providers. This will always be done with your knowledge and, where required, your written consent.
Marketing Communications:
We may occasionally contact you with updates, newsletters, or invitations to events. You can opt out of these communications at any time.
Cloud & Overseas Storage:
Some software we use stores data in the cloud, which may involve overseas servers. We take reasonable steps to ensure any overseas service providers meet Australian privacy standards.
Data Protection:
We have safeguards in place to protect your data against misuse, unauthorised access, and loss. When no longer required, data is securely destroyed or de-identified.
Access & Corrections:
You can request access to your personal information at any time or ask for corrections if you believe it is inaccurate or incomplete.

MYBOOKWORKS is registered with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB). This means we meet ongoing education, experience, and ethical standards, and we are authorised to provide BAS Services under Australian law.

Legislation & Compliance Obligations
As a registered BAS Agent, MYBOOKWORKS is legally bound by the following legislation:
Tax Agent Services Act 2009 (TASA): Governs BAS agent registration and defines legal obligations, including adherence to the Code of Professional Conduct.
Tax Agent Services Regulations 2022: Specifies eligibility, qualifications, experience, and ongoing CPE requirements for BAS Agents.
Taxation Administration Act 1953: Covers our responsibilities when interacting with the ATO and handling taxpayer information.
Privacy Act 1988 & Australian Privacy Principles (APPs): Governs the collection, use, storage, and disclosure of personal information, including Tax File Numbers (TFNs).
Tax File Number Guidelines 2011: Regulates how TFNs must be handled.
Corporations Act 2001: Sets out responsibilities of company directors, financial reporting and governance.
Fair Work Act 2009: While not directly governed by this Act, BAS agents offering payroll services must stay within legal advisory boundaries relating to employment matters.
We also adhere to relevant TPB Practice Notes, TPB-issued Guidelines, and ATO administrative protocols when delivering our services.

- Acknowledge receipt of your complaint via email
- Confirm our understanding of the matter
- Aim to resolve the issue within 14 business days
- Communicate the outcome and next steps
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Tax Practitioners Board at: www.tpb.gov.au/complaints
The TPB will review your complaint and, if necessary, investigate. If you’re dissatisfied with the TPB’s process or outcome, you have the right to request a further review – more details are available on their site.
